Your REALTOR For Life!

Hello, my name is John Mick and I have been a REALTOR in Austin, Texas since 1991. I specialize in real estate in the Austin metro area, and the surrounding suburbs. If you are planning a move to Austin, moving away from our city, or just relocating within town, I am eager to visit with you and put my extensive knowledge of the Austin real estate market to work for you. Our relationship will be one of honesty, integrity and professional service - not just what you need, but what you deserve!

I sell over 30 homes per year and while at Century 21, I received the Centurion Award 6 times. This award put me among the top 1% of all Century 21 agents in the country. After Century 21 Ripley closing, I moved to RE/MAX in 2010 where I have consistently been among the top RE/MAX agents in the Austin area market. In addition to assisting buyers and sellers with relocation, I personally own and manage rental property. This experience allows me to give "hands on" advice to real estate investors.

My background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University, and a move to Austin in 1990. I am a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), the Texas Association of Realtors (TAR), and the Austin Board of Realtors (ABoR). I have been married for 20 years and have one daughter. I am a deacon at New Hope First Baptist Church.

Customer Reviews Of John Mick Realtor RE/MAX 1

Bought a Single Family home in 2011 in Cedar Park, TX.

John Mick is the best Realtor we could have found, for eight reasons.

1 - He knows what he's doing, and he's been doing it for a really long time. When choosing the random "friend of my brother's" or "guy I used to work with" that most people choose when looking for a Realtor, they put themselves at the risk of losing an opportunity to find the right house because their Realtor is ignorant of all the pockets of awesome neighborhoods in Austin. They may lose the opportunity to plug into a network of mature Realtors who John can turn to when he's looking for deals that are coming on the market. He sold 153 homes in 2013. The average Austin Realtor sold 5 homes. He's doing something right, y'all.

2 - He's sharp. Dude knows his way around the bargaining table, and when he gives you an estimate on your property, you can trust that he knows what he's doing. We were considering a property, and he did some research on the Realtor to find out how long he'd been in the biz, and that helped tailor his negotiation strategy.

3 - He's accessible. He returns calls, every time, and he will talk into the night with you. (My first convo with him happened when I called at 9 pm to leave a message).

4 - He's honest. You looking for that cheap, amazing, centrally-located home in a safe neighborhood? If it doesn't exist, and he'll tell you. But then he'll show you the six neighborhoods in the metro area that can get you what you're looking for, and he'll send you dozens of links to the properties that may interest you. Tell him what you want, not just where you want it, and he'll find the right property.

5 - He knows the metro area inside and out. He's lives central, south, north, in the burbs. He's made a home in these areas at a time in his life, so he really, really understands the benefits and challenges with different parts of the city. He's not just a "South Austin" Realtor. He's an All-Austin Realtor.

6 - He's okay with you if you're "just looking." If you're just looking to see what's out there, totally cool. If you're not ready to buy, that's cool too. He's not out for the short-term sale. He's a relationship Realtor.

7 - He's also a seasoned real-estate investor. He can direct you to properties that have the highest potential revenue and the lowest possible cost. He'll talk about condos vs. sing-family vs. multi-family, and he'll chat about the best areas with the best schools, at the most affordable prices. He himself owns rental property, and he can direct you to the right location for your precious investment.

8 - He's someone you can trust to take care of your friends and family. I've referred three families to him. Two have bought with him, and one is looking currently. We ourselves won't use another Realtor.

Whether selling, buying a home or buying investment property, John Mick is my guy, and he should totally be your's, too.

Sold a Single Family home in 2009 in Pflugerville, TX.
I have worked with John over my 16 years in Austin. Many years ago, he was willing to spend an entire day with me looking at apartments. He picked me up and dropped me off at the airport and drove me around all day for what could not have been much of a financial return. A year later, when we were ready to buy our first home, we called John who patiently took us through the process of building a home. 10 years later, we still remembered John when it was time to upgrade our home and he worked hard to help us navigate through some pitfalls when our initial offer fell through that we ran into and ultimately found us the perfect home for our family. We have kept in touch over the entire time I've lived in Austin and John has always been willing to answer questions and go the extra mile for us. John is always courteous and happy to work with us. He did all of the work on each of our transactions to make the process as smooth as possible. We relied heavily on his advice which we found to be sound. When it is time for us to find a new home in the Austin area, I will go to John first.

Bought a Single Family home in 2011 in Cedar Park, TX.
John helped us find our current home in Cedar Park when we relocated to Austin from the Dallas area in 2011. John carefully listened to our must-haves and desires, and skillfully found homes that met, and even exceeded our expectations. John's knowledge of the Austin real estate market, builder specific differences, and contacts within the industry are second to none. We are delighted with our home and we give John our highest recommendation!

Sold a home in 2007.
John Listed our home and then helped us buy our new home. He did a great job with both transactions. The sell was very quick and efficient with no problems, we had multiple contracts after 1 day on the market. We had our new home built and he was very helpful in negotiating the price and staying involved through out the building process. John was very knowledgeable with the area, the builder, and the neighborhood we were looking in. This helped us be able to negotiate the best price possible. I would recommend John to anyone who is looking to buy or sell. He will work with you every step of the way to ensure the smoothest process possible.

Sold a Single Family home in 2010 in Austin, TX.
My home was in bad shape and John helped me get the right people to get it ready for sale. He helped on an almost daily basis getting the home ready. The house went under contract in less than 30 days. He also helped us quite a bit in finding a new home.

Bought a home in 2013.
John has helped me purchase three homes in Austin. My experience for all three transactions has been fantastic. He has always impressed me with his knowledge of the Austin real estate market, his responsiveness and his work ethic. John is very service oriented. Even after he helped us purchase one of our homes which was for investment, he was willing to help us find a tenant to rent it at no charge. He also gave us so much help and support in terms of finding contractors and handymen to help us with projects we had planned for our home. Some agents want to get you to buy a home, but John was always honest about what he felt about each home he showed us. I really appreciated his wisdom and honesty throughout the purchase process, and could not recommend him more highly.

I've used John as my Realtor for over 7 real estate transactions, for both my personal residence and investment properties. He is extremely knowledgeable about north Austin neighborhoods and Austin real estate in general. I have recommended him to many friends that have also had wonderful experiences.

Sold a Single Family home in 2014 in Austin, TX.
We both sold and bought homes this year with John Mick as our realtor. He was exceptionally thorough and patient with us throughout both transactions. He quickly understood what we wanted to accomplish and helped us during every step of the process. He even went and knocked on doors in our ideal neighborhoods to see if he could find leads on potential homes for us.

John went above and beyond what I could possibly have expected and I would recommend him to every single person I know for his persistence, dedication, and thoughtfulness. He was always available to show us homes or answer questions and although we absolutely love our new home, if we ever need to move again - he will be the first person I call.

Sold a home in 2010.
John is a great person to work with. He knows his markets and is friendly, trustworthy and I have to say has the highest of integrity. I have not only recommended him to any friend I have who is even considering buying or selling a home, but he is the first person I think of when I think real estate.

John helped my wife and I list our condo and he also helped us get into a great new home. I would certainly recommend him with the 5 stars in every category.

Sold a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $350K in Austin, TX.
John has been our realtor of choice for the past 16 years. He has worked diligently to help us find our perfect starter home and when it came time, sold it in less than a month in a then, not so stellar housing market. He found us our intermediate home that we enjoyed for several years and then helped us rent it out. We again, worked closely with him this past year to find us our 'forever' home in a terribly competitive market/area. John is hardworking, honest and upfront and we recommend him without reservation.

Bought a Single Family home in 2012 in Leander, TX.
We were new to the Austin area and after a less than good experience with our first realtor, we were referred to John and were very pleased with how he took care of us. He seems to know every builder and neighborhood in the area. His knowledge of building codes and other related issues that came up as we looked for a house was very impressive. We will be calling him if we ever need an agent.

Bought a home in 2013.
John Mick helped us find a home in late 2013. He was just GREAT! His service was excellent, and his knowledge of real estate was even better. He helped us clarify our goals, showed us many options, helped us think through our decisions without being pushy, and in short was a huge help to us. He supported us throughout the closing process and was very responsive to all of our questions. He is very intelligent, and his integrity, ethics, and people skills are outstanding. We recommend him highly because it has been a pleasure working with him!

Sold a home in 1995.
I hired John Mick for a first home purchase in 1995, which was a great experience as he helped explain the process and helped with questions on qualifications, preparation for sales, and an explanation of the entire process.

I followed up with that sale, a second purchase and sale, and final new builder home. Throughout this process, John helps you prepare for presentation, and gives valuable insight into timing the sale for market conditions, including when the home should be ready for sale and when to list.

The meticulous preparation John suggested to present my home was first rate. Virtual tours, proper lighting, and the right marketing made all the difference. Having John as a realtor took the guesswork out of 'is my house going to sell and for what price'. I'd recommend John to anyone just starting out, investing in a rental, or buying there 5th house.

Bought a home In 2016
As a first time home buyer, I was unsure about what the process was, what kind of information I would need to have ready, how to coordinate with mortgage brokers, etc. John was with me every step of the way, explaining in detail everything that was being asked of me and letting me know exactly what I needed to do in order to make the process go smoothly. He also kept my mind at ease while I was waiting for the final review of my mortgage application to go through and even took the initiative to speak with the mortgage company to make sure my application was being taken care of properly. I would definitely recommend John to anyone looking to buy a home because he is knowledgeable, organized, and makes sure to keep everyone at ease and on the same page.

I did not purchase an in town home, but property in the country. John went above and beyond to show me as many properties in my criteria. Despite me being a knowledgeable home buyer John still taught me a few new ways to look at buying a home. When it came time to start making offers John kept me involved and up to date every step of the way, I was never in the dark.
